Covid hit everyone hard. I was part of the work force that was forced to continue working as my job was deemed to be essential. So I worked, helping at work as best as I could with implementing the ever changing requirements for worker safety. This was all on top of my normal duties. This was exhausting, working insane hours for my company and leaving little time for what I really loved. My writing.
But by June, things at work had calmed down and I found myself with the time and energy to keep working on my craft. I read books about writing. Started watching podcasts by Joanna Penn and the Self Publishing Show. I watched more of the online videos from 20books conferences until I ran out of content.
Then I wrote. I finished another novel and started another along with several different short stories. But then it happened. Everyone talks about it. They warn authors against it. I got worldbuilders disease. I started planning more back story for my characters, planned out histories for kingdoms that won’t matter for several more books. Built entire civilizations and timelines to tie everything all together. Not to mention I outlined no less than 65 different novels and short stories.
So I ended the year lost in my own world, unable to write, unable to finish. But things are always changing.
